Spiritual Wellness

1. Spiritual

Search for meaning and purpose in human existence. The development of a deep appreciation for the depth and expanse of life and natural forces that exist in the universe. The ability to establish peace and harmony in our lives.

How to improve in this area:

  • exploring your spiritual core

  • spending time alone

  • meditating regularly

  • being fully present in everything you do

Physical Wellness

2. Physical

Need for regular physical activity. Physical development promotes learning about diet and nutrition, consuming foods and beverages that enhance good health. The ability to maintain a healthy quality of life through good exercise improving strength, flexibility, and endurance and eating habits.

How to improve in this area:

  • exercising daily

  • getting adequate sleep

  • eating a variety of healthy foods

  • only drinking alcohol in moderation

  • refraining from smoking

  • striving to reach and maintain a healthy weight

Emotional Wellness

3. Emotional

Recognizes awareness and acceptance and healthy expression of one's feelings such as happiness, hope, love, joy, sadness, anger, fear, and stress. Encompasses optimism, self-esteem, and self-acceptance. It includes the capacity to manage feelings, realistic assessment of limitations, development of autonomy, and ability to cope effectively with stress.
 

How to improve in this area:

  • tuning in to your thoughts and feelings

  • cultivating an optimistic attitude

  • seeking support

  • practice stress management

Career Wellness

4. Career

Recognizing personal satisfaction and enrichment in life through work. The ability to get personal fulfillment from jobs while still maintaining balance in life. The desire to contribute to a career to make a positive impact on the organizations which one works in and to society as a whole.
 

How to improve in this area:

  • creating a vision for your future

  • being open to change and learning new skills

Intellectual Wellness

5. Intellectual

Encourages creative, stimulating mental activities. Expanding your knowledge and skills while discovering the potential for sharing one's gifts with others. The mind should be continually exercised just as the body by exploring issues relating to problem solving, critical thinking, and adapting to change.

 

How to improve in this area:

  • taking a course or workshop

  • learning a foreign language

  • seeking out people who challenge you intellectually

  • reading and learning to appreciate art

Environmental Wellness

6. Environmental

The extendt to which one cares for the earth by protecting its resources. The ability to recognize personal responsibility for the quality of the air, water, and land. Making a positive impact on the quality of homes, communities, and the planet while understanding the negative effect of personal choices.

How to improve in this area:

  • stopping junk mail

  • conserve water

  • reduce, reuse, and recycle

Social Wellness

7. Social

The ability to relate to and connect with other people in the world. Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with family, friends, and co- workers. Becoming aware of your importance in society and staying connected with people, forming new relationships, and participating in various social activities.

How to improve in this area:

  • cultivating healthy relationships

  • contacting old friends

  • getting involved

  • contributing to your community

  • communicating your thoughts, feelings, and ideas
